JOSH TAYLOR – ACTOR | SINGER | SONGWRITER

Born 28 February 1998, Greater Manchester JOSH TAYLOR is one of the UK’s biggest fully independent solo artists. This Bolton based teen actor, singer, songwriter and recording artist has been performing on stage, in theatre and on TV since 2008.

At 16 JOSH released his debut album FEELING STRONGER on download and streaming platforms such as iTunes, Amazon and Spotify through his record label Cloud9Records. All tracks are original with the album comprising five JOSH TAYLOR co-writes, including the ever popular; Back to Bed, Night to Party, Just You Wait, Break us in Two and Feeling Stronger the title track. Always in demand you will find JOSH gigging at venues, festivals, radio roadshows, concerts and celebrity events throughout the UK performing his own material alongside established and emerging artistes showcasing his amazing vocal range and stage presence which continues to gain growing acclaim amongst a huge and loyal fan base. Right now Josh is collaborating with songwriters and producers whilst writing a follow up album which is planned for 2017. Already he has given us a taste of what is to come with My Own World, Tick Tock and Find Yourself.

Classically trained, JOSH’s vocal range covers many musical genres giving him great versatility in the world of theatre and as a teen solo artist. “JOSH has a unique mature northern sound with distinctive overtones, he is a theatrical engaging performer and his music is an original blend of Pop/Rock Pop/Punk often with classical tinges. ACTOR

On stage he has played leads in; The Winslow Boy, David Copperfield, All My Sons, Oliver Twist and he co-wrote his first play ‘The Wasp’ for the Lowry Young Actors Company. This summer JOSH played Shem in a new musical Not the End of the World at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and he was nominated for best performance in entertainment across 128 shows with the musical itself and cast receiving two 5 stars and other nominations. Last year at The Rose Theatre, Kingston (London) JOSH played Tommy, The Crossing Sweeper in The Ragged Child and Dibbler, The Band Manager in Soul Music on the back of which he was awarded a grade 8 distinction in Musical Theatre by Trinity College.

On TV JOSH has recently completed two projects with the BBC, the first was a guest lead ‘David Williams’ in the BBC drama DOCTORS ‘Between The Cracks’ and the most recent was a 4 part psychological crime drama FROM DARKNESS playing the role of Ollie Hind alongside screen dad Johnny Harris as DCI John Hind and Anne-Marie Duff as Claire Church, formerly PC Church of the Manchester police. This being prime TV from Sunday 4th October 2015. JOSH was cast to play the part of JEM in the BBC production ‘Hetty Feather’ but filming clashed with the theatre production Ragged Child. In film JOSH has completed many projects from an early age; Seeing Smoke [2008], Myth [2010] and Vanishing Point [2013] along with many short films including Swings and Roundabouts [2013] by Daniel ‘Rodriguez’ Harris which won Best Super Short Film (KinoFilm Festival Manchester).

 

EDUCATION & TRAINING

JOSH began his early years training in 2006 as a child actor/singer attending some well-known theatre and acting academies; Northern Academy of Dance and Stage, Melody Pop Tuition, Activ8 (Octagon Theatre), CATS (Theatre Church), Sylvia Young Summer Theatre School, Youth Music Theatre UK (YMT:UK) [from 2009], National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT) [from 2010], National Youth Theatre of Great Britain (NYT) [from 2013] and The Lowry Young Actors Company [2010-2104]. In 2014 JOSH completed his third production with the NYMT and was asked along to the Lime Academy at Lime Pictures. This year he completed his sixth production with the YMT:UK.

Early principle roles included Tiny Tim in Scrooge the Musical which was quickly followed by Nibs in Peter Pan and Tabias/Ensemble in Sweeney Todd which ran for two years and included two West End Live productions.

Last year JOSH finished songwriting with the British and Irish Modern Music Institute also known as BIMM (alumi – James Bay, George Esra…) and has recently moved to Access to Music to complete an Artist Development programme (alumi – Ed Sheeran, Rita Ora…) whilst also honing his TV, Film and Theatre techniques with The Manchester School of Acting (MSA) and simultaneously carving out his professional career in the entertainment industry.
